Mental Health Awareness
At Sanders School, we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We recognise that the students' mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement. All children go through ups and downs during their school career and some face significant life events. This page has a number of links and resources to help you support your son with his mental health and emotional wellbeing.
SNAP: Special Needs and Parents are a charity that offer lots of different support for children and their parents as well as a parental advice and training opportunities for parents. Their website is below:
YoungMinds offers free confidential online and telephone support to anyone worried about the emotional and mental wellbeing of a child or young person up to the age of 25.

- email firstname.lastname@example.org and YoungMinds will respond to your query within three working days
The charity has also put together online information for parents and carers about mental health services for children and young people.
Too many children and young people see or experience traumatic events such as abuse, violence, disasters, war, tragic accidents or major incidents such as terrorism. Some of these experiences may be one-off or short-term, but they may also be enduring, and it is important for adults to take note and help children understand and cope with their emotions following a traumatic event. This guide has been developed to help parents, carers and professionals supporting children and young people affected by traumatic events or experiences.
