Curriculum overview for Autumn 2020

We know that parents play a crucial role in supporting their children’s learning and levels of parental engagement are consistently associated with better academic outcomes. Evidence suggests that effective parental engagement can lead to learning gains of +3 months over the course of a year and that you make a big difference to your child’s attainment just by showing an interest in their work and encouraging them, which can be simply by:

-asking your child specifically about their learning

-supporting them to revise

-where possible, providing specific resources to aid their learning

We are aware that many parents wish to support their children’s learning at home but can find it overwhelming with the vast amount of learning taking place across the curriculum. In order to help you do this, we will be sending home an overview of what your child will be learning each half term. The overviews will briefly detail the topic your child will be covering in every subject, what the assessment will entail and some suggestions of how you can support your child at home. Attached is the first one for your child’s year for Autumn 2.

We truly hope you find this a valuable and informative resource in supporting your child’s learning. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact rsharma@sandersschool.org.uk
