3 Controlled Assessment Assignments worth 60% of the final GCSE Grade.
The 1st assignment is on Newspapers. Students will analyse 2 front pages from popular newspapers. They will then design and create their own newspaper front page targeted at a specific audience.
The 2nd assignment is on DVD covers and film. Students will look at films and trailers and then analyse a range of DVD covers. They will then design and create their own DVD cover based on a film that they have created. Finally, students produce a storyboard for a trailer for their film.
The 3rd assignment is named the "Practical Production". This is when students create and design their own Media product. Students are allowed to choose their own medium-music video, magazine, film trailer, website or advertising campaign.
Year 11 is spent finishing off the 3rd assignment of the Practical Production.
The rest of the year is spent preparing for the GCSE exam held in May. The exam board (AQA) release the topic so that students know what to prepare for. Recent topics include :
